Apple iPhone 7s: Apple's iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus devices had long been speculated ahead of their celebrated launch, and a lot of those rumours that we were advised to take with a healthy grain of salt actually came true. And can we say that both devices were absolutely wondrous to look at? But now that the year has taken a turn, we are already looking forward to the next generation of Apple smartphones be it the Apple iPhone 7S or the much-awaited iPhone 8. However, one of the biggest debates surrounding this pertains to what exactly Apple will launch 2017 as their tenth anniversary flagship edition. Are all the rumours about Apple skipping a generation of the iPhone come to materialize? Or will they stick to their regular plan?
For one, Apple is not one to deviate from their path just like that. Every step that they take is a well thought out marketing strategy. At this point, the rumors surrounding the iPhone 8 coming out in 2017 appear tempting solely on the wings of the Cupertino-based company's upcoming anniversary, but it can safely be assumed that the device will be a revolutionary one, whenever it comes out. But it won't be this year. Here's why 2017 will see the launch of the iPhone 7s.
iPhone 8 or iPhone 7s: Which Device is Next in Line?
Apple has been rolling out an intermediary S variant for their iPhones for as long as we can remember, and they serve an important purpose. Not only do these in-betweeners rake in a significant amount of money owing to their upgrades, but they also afford the company a trusty testing platform for all the new technology they come up with. And that has worked out just fine for them, as many dedicated Apple users consider it to be a better idea to wait for the next S model of a newly launched variant. This allows them to get a good amount of idea about Apple's overall intentions with the new model, while being certain that next year's phone will pack in some impressive new upgrades. And this is why Apple will stick to their plan and release the iPhone 7s next. To see the iPhone 8, we will have to wait some more.
One other thing to note is that the iPhone 7s will not be launched by itself, and will be accompanied by the larger iPhone 7s Plus. This has long been a custom for Apple, and it will ensure that we get to see some cool new additions to the iPhone 7 Plus's already amazing features. So let's get talking about the details.
Apple iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus Features
We know that Apple is working on a number of revolutionary technologies that will eventually make their way into their flagship smartphones, but the timing doesn't quite look right for this year's release for a few of them. But on the flipside, we certainly can expect to see a whole lot of new features in the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. The iPhone lineup has long been rumoured to undergo a major design overhaul, and while the iPhone 7 did not quite live up to the expectations in this particular respect, the chances of this happening in the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus look really good. Noted analysts have predicted everything for the upcoming smartphone that range from an all-glass body to true wireless charging. But there's a lot more that's possibly on offer with the iPhone 7s devices. To name but a few, we can expect to see major changes in areas such as-
Quite obviously, and for good reason, our eyes are focussed more on the exteriors of the iPhone 7s than any other upcoming devices. Apple has already made some major redesigns to the iPhone 7, but they mainly had to do with implementing a water resistant build. For the iPhone 7s, however, things may be much more different.
The new iPhone 7s and 7s Plus variants will retain the sizes that we have seen until now, so expect a 4.7-inch and 5.8-inch display for the devices. However, various reports have more or less confirmed that Apple is working on reducing the bezels on their upcoming devices, and if this makes it into the iPhone 7s variants (which is very possible), then we may be looking at a smaller device overall with the display being the prevalent feature in front. Also, if they upgrade the display to an AMOLED one, we will see a significant hike in resolution as well. But the display in either the iPhone 7s or the iPhone 7s Plus might also include a host of other functions like an embedded fingerprint reader. Also check iPhone 9 price
One of the main speculations about the 2017 model of the iPhone is that it will be made of an all-glass body. But Apple also has on their hands another, very able material- Zirconia Ceramic. This particular material has been used by Apple in the Apple Watch 2 ( check Apple watch bands) and as we have seen already, it affords a sturdy, lightweight, and scratch resistant build to any device. So while nothing is set in stone for the iPhone 7s's build material, it is good to keep this option in mind. The all-glass build, on the other hand, could find its way to the device with the iPhone 8. Among some of the other things, we could see the eradication of the headphone jack making a continuation, with the home button being removed altogether as well. Also, with a new bezel-free build, Apple will think of a way to incorporate the front camera in a different way.
Apple made a huge headway in 2016 with the iPhone 7's camera. With the 2017 variant, we can't imagine them stalling at that. For the iPhone 7s, chances are that the primary camera will be amped up to a 16MP unit, while the 7s Plus will have dual-16MP cameras at the rear. We expect to see the front cameras come with similar features as their predecessor.
iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus Specifications- On the Inside
- Internally, too, the iPhone 7s and the iPhone 7s Plus will use superior technology. Apple has consistently used the S variants as a platform to make processor related upgrades. Considering that hints about an A11 chipset has been doing the rounds for a while now, with the company's 2017 devices rumoured to feature the new technology, the iPhone 7s stands a chance of shipping with the new processor built in. Expect the new processor to have a positive impact on the overall performance and battery life of the device. On the software front, the device will run iOS 12 for an amplified user experience.
- On the memory front, expect the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus to come with 3GB RAM across both devices. On the storage front, Apple introduced a new 256GB iPhone in 2016. This time, we may see the iPhone 7s and the 7s Plus roll out a 256GB version as well. The smaller storage models could come in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB options, but if all of these will be retained remains to be seen.
- Finally, we expect to see some upgrades on the battery front too. Apple's battery units are some of the most powerful in the world of smartphones today, and the most recent iPhones can last up to 21 hours of talk time, with the standby extending up to 350 hours. The iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will undoubtedly be powered by bigger, better units. We speculate that the smaller device will come with a non-removable Li-ion unit of 2,150mAh and the 7s Plus will be equipped with a 3,300 mAh battery.
iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus Wishlist
The iPhone lineup has already undergone a series of changes in terms of design and features, but there's no harm in stating what we think will make the iPhone 7s smartphone a remarkable step towards the future. The fact is that Apple has introduced some significant changes in their 2016 iPhone models, but that could be just a start with the heights that the company is planning to reach with the future of the series. While some of these futuristic things will obviously find a way into our wishlist, a few just have to do with our preferences.
A New Size: Apple has long since assigned a 4.7-inch size for its core iPhone models, but we think that the time is right for a shake up. We wouldn't mind seeing a new, slightly bigger screen size with the iPhone 7s, which will take it closer to its 5.5-inch counterpart. For this purpose, a 5.2-inch iPhone will be perfect.
New Features: Some of the things that we want to see making their way into the iPhone 7s are VR Compatibility for a more immersive entertainment experience and an iris scanner for added security. Both would be significant additions to the flagship lineup, and both are plausible in light of the newest emerging technological trends.
Camera Module: After what Apple has done with the iPhone 7 Plus, we are sure that the company is already thinking about ways to take the technology forward. But one of the things that we wish to see is the absence of the protruding module at the rear. Not only is it unsightly, but a lot of companies are implementing a flat-back dual camera unit, and the technology behind it is simply not as complicated. This is something that we wish to see in the redesigned iPhone 7s.
Upgraded Maps: We already know that Apple has plans of employing a number of drones to help them keep on upgrading the Apple Maps on a consistent basis. It would be great if the same technology could be used to provide real time updates and route information while we're on the move.
Apple iPhone 7s Price
Apple launched the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at $649 and $769 respectively. Since last year, however, Apple has significantly hiked the prices of their devices compared to previous years' launches, and we can expect to see this reflected in the iPhone lineup as well. Add to that the fact that the 2017 iPhones will come with a major design overhaul, and fans can expect to shell out way more than what they have in the past. In this light, prices for the iPhone 7s could start at $799 for the basic model, while the 7s Plus could come at a minimum of $949. Expect them to go up as per their storage options.
iPhone 7s Release Date
Apple has always been a stickler for routine and has stuck to the release pattern they adopt for a while. Since 2012, the company has consistently released their iPhones in September every year, and we think we'll see the same for this year. Based on this, the iPhone 7s and the iPhone 7s Plus will be launched sometime in September 2017.
While most think that Apple is about to give a miss to their S lineup this year, we have already argued why we think that is not going to happen. The fact is that the S models are real money spinners when it comes to new launches, and they afford great room for improvement and experimentation. The iPhone 7s smartphones will undoubtedly take some of the best features of last year's models and blend them with all the new technology that they have been working on. Now that 2017 is already here, we expect to hear more about the upcoming smartphone as we close in on the expected release date of the iPhone 7s. Be assured that this post will be updated regularly to bring you the freshest news about the new device.
